Who is the LCA?
The LCA, a 501 © (3) non-profit corporation, was formed in 1977 by a group of concerned property owners, business leaders, developers and local bankers with the goal of controlling and/or eliminating an ever increasing infestation of Hydrilla. With 40% of the Lake covered by 1981, Hydrilla had severely limited safe recreational uses of the lake and property values were decreasing rapidly. 


How did the LCA save Lake Conroe from Hydrilla in 1981?
The LCA was responsible for the Texas Legislature passing legislation to permit Texas A&M University to introduce the White Amur (hydrilla eating fish) into Lake Conroe. To fund the project, the LCA raised over $600,000 via property and business owner donations and the White Amur project was successful as the weed eating fish devoured the hydrilla. Sounds far fetched, but the weed eating fish saved Lake Conroe.
